Exhibited at the UP Vargas Museum as part of the group show Traversals/Trajectories: Expansive localities, Philippine Contemporary Art Network curated by Tessa Maria Guazon.
Tessa Maria Guazon, coordinator of the Exhibition and Curatorial Analysis component of PCAN, shares her ideas and processes through a curatorial walk-through of "Traversals/Trajectories: Expansive Localities" at the 1F Lobby of Vargas Museum. The exhibition explores ideas of the region and the different “practices of placeness” in Philippine contemporary art by tracing numerous strains of place making in the works of artists from different localities across the Philippines.
"Inheritance" is a mixed media installation exhibited at the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts & Finale Art File, Makati City
My thesis is about the inheritance of memories and experience and how they are appropriated. The work aims to explore nostalgia, postmemory and the romanticism of the family through an installation of several simplified forms of a house made with fabric, embroideries and family photographs. The fabric is sourced from formal clothing such as barongs and dresses donated by relatives. The fabric is then hand embroidered with details of windows, doors, and outlines of family photographs referencing an interpretation of memories that was not experienced.
